The Reviewers’ Responsibilities

The reviewer is to produce an unbiased, independent scholarly review free from any influence of anyone who was involved with the development of the proposed rule-making or other document and of anyone who may have a vested interest in the adoption or rejection of the proposed rule-making or other document.

Once selected, the reviewer is normally expected to produce a written report on the requested points of science, economics, or curriculum within 30 days of receipt of the document.

Reviewers are asked not to let anyone know they have been selected until they have completed their written reviews, and reviewers also cannot communicate with any individual at CalEPA unless they do so in writing through the CalEPA Program Manager. However, once they submit their reviews to CalEPA, they are identified publicly and their reviews are made available on the website of the requesting CalEPA BDO.
